World Championships Coordinates

According to Google Earth, the WC next week will be at 49 degrees 18' 36.14" N, 5 degrees 47'51.5" E. That's between Landres and Piennes, a few km SW of Metz. Stunt practice is at a soccer field in Mercy-le-Bas, a few km west of Landres on the N43. The practice field, if it's the one I remember, is at the north end of Mercy-le-Bas on the Rue du Football, 49 degrees 23'40.12" N, 5 degrees, 45' 55.12" E. The US team hotel is the Ibis:

I actually took a look on Google Earth the other day. Sure would be great if it was in real time, and had better definition.

Imagine, sitting at home on your computer, and watching the flights from above. Tie that in to streaming audio, and it's almost like being there.

You could even judge and comment from your arm chair sipping a brewski (although it might be pretty early in the day!).

I just happen to be in France for business with nothing to do this weekend...... Sometimes you just get lucky. Unfortunately I will not be around for the Worlds, but will get to see some activity this weekend and visit the practice sites.

To me it appears to be NW (or they've moved it since 2000)

I'll be on the campsite (on site) so if you happen to hear bluegrass banjo there, either run for your life (paddle faster!) or drop by....

Thanks, Bruno. I assumed that north was up when I was looking at Google Earth. No doubt it wasn't. I remember Mercy-le-Bas being north of Landres. Yes, I was there in 2000 as an F2B mechanic.

Either the food in Bellevue is really bad, or you ate at different places than I did last time the W/C were in Landres

(Best food I remember there was at the small concession at the field.)
