It's disintegrating from the wind. Could be a lean run. I have seen no snotty attitude toward Americans by anybody here. People from all over the world seem to have T-shirts with US place names on them. I should have brought my 12th Street Cafe hat. I could have gotten top Euro for it.

First plane is Mitsuru Yokoyama's Impact derivative Pioneer. Second plane is Hiromi Ohata's Impact derivative ship. Last plane looks like Paul Walker's I.C. Impact. All of the planes including the Swedish ship appear to be Impacts or Impact derivative ships!!!

OK, if that last one is Paul's (and I guess no one else would use a US flag) what is the symbolism on the flag? I was thrown a little by the gold star on the left wing and the illegible (to me) writing next to it. I guess he carried out the star theme, but with multiple colors on the wing.

I'm pretty sure that isn't Paul's plane. He was taking the 2006 plane that he flew at the previous world champs in Spain. That plane didn't have any blue on it. As I remember, it's red, white and a sort of gold. But maybe he changed his mind.

I'm looking at a picture of Paul's 2006 WC plane in the Dec. 2006 Model Aviation and it appears to be the same as the photo above.

Of course. The last plane (with the star on the side and the removable stab) is Paul's. Leonard was, I thought, refering to the blue one with the ragged US flag on the rudder.

I think if you'll look closely that isn't a "burning" American flag but rather a "tattered" one blowing in the wind -- a pretty patriotic message about the resiliency of the flag and the country "for which it stands".

p.s. I've no clue whose airplane it is but I don't think the flag was a political statement ... at least not a negative one.

Well, I wouldn't think there would be a negative statement intended, but I do like your explanation. Perhaps the flag was added for the time they all came to the US. I am sure Howard will fill us in with all of the details.

Yokoyama duked it out in the Walker Flyoffs some years back. I have videos of his flights. He bounced his landing and lost the Nats. His "calling card" is the reverse wingover. He is a multi time Japanese National Champion.

I think that was 99* and yes, he was really good and particularly good with regards to size. A very nice guy, too.
