When I get all the bench tops full of stuff and I find myself spending more time looking for things than doing things, I stop and clean up. Then start the whole cycle again.

Not me, my shop looks like a tornado went through. It stays that way most of the time. If I had a clean shop I would never do any work, I might get the place dirty [photo not recovered: sipcof.gif]
I think you missed the opportunity to use about a four-square-inch area, right next to the roll of tape. Also, you have wasted the opportunity to pile things on top of the models themselves, thus losing at least a thousand square inches of area to clutter up. Obviously you are not a member of the Monty Python "Society for Putting Things on Top of Other Things."

Al , your workbench reminds me of my own but my floor is like your work bench too. I barely have a path to walk through . I dont remember it being this bad in past years.

At the moment mine is pretty good, just finished up the final touches on the Latency and cleaned house. Both benches are clean and all airplanes except my Score are in the proper storage rack. Other areas are still a mess but at least my model airplane corner is somewhat clean.
Getting the tractor out last weekend gave me allot of floor space to clutter up, quickly filled with an old washer and dryer plus my welding bench. Yesterday I started dismantling an old electric 3 wheel Cushman scooter I'm going to turn into another airplane hauler to free up the golf cart for other tasks.
Still have two pull test machines to do the machine work on and final assembly. Wife is bugging me about the roof on our front porch.. Oh this is a shop thread not a project thread [photo not recovered: sipcof.gif]
Picture a combination art studio, computer station and workshop in a very small, 469 (not a typo) square foot apartment, and...well, you'll get the idea.

Hi Gil:
It flies pretty well, but not nearly as well as the one I sold. It was a Hayabusa (That translates to Peregrine Falcon - the world's fastest bird). I miss it dearly and may have to remedy that soon.

I am getting better, but it takes a lot of discipline to clean up after every day. If I ever get it dowm, I will able to find tools when I need them.

Bob,
Yes, an airhead it is. 1976 R75/6. I have had it since new - many good trips. The fairing is an after market copy of the BMW RS fairing. I have never gotten tired of this bike - and would not hesitate to take it anywhere at a moments notice. Easy to work on and very reliable.

Finally----------------a couple Harleys.
Harley?? How about that Indian!!!! Randy you are a man of taste and culture. You have no idea how jealous I am. I do have to admit that the Flathead with the springer front end could reside in my shop anytime also.
What can I say- I like Fox Rockets and 35 Stunts too, maybe not the latest in technology and performance- but side valve V-twins and old loop scavenged stunt motors do have a certain appeal to some of us.

I remeber building Stick -n-Tissue FFs on an ironing board in a closet as a kid. Ambroid and Aero-gloss in a closed 5'X 8' room. Killer head aches and probably explains a few of the bad decisions I made in my life- killed off quite a few good brain cells back there in that "Workshop".

If you guy's can post pictures of MotorCycles then I can post pictures of an airplane in my shop. it is neat only between projects. Neat is a subjective term. This is a U-control model or raher an I control model 1:1 scale 1950 Cessna 170

The 170A has been flying since later in 2004 the shop currently has a 140A wing across the center. There are two jeep differentials on the side. I just completed two custom CJ5 axels this last winter. I purchased a basket case 1953 CJ3b jeep destined to move in this spring. I got interested in U-control just after Christmas and am on my 3rd airplane just now just finished installing the elevator on my Brodak 402. I have another Brodak 402 mod with flaps scratch build. I’ll see what happens. The picture posted here is of the 170A after completion and sitting at the camp sight at Moose Creek Idaho on Fly (sic) fishing trip. I just unburied the radial arm saw and table saw to build wing jigs for another u-control. I can not get across the shop without moving something.

Jim,
I have a 1950 170A too. I just got my own hangar, formerly I had to move up to three other airplanes to get mine out. Your's looks like a real beauty. I really like the polished look. Although, I'm glad I don't have to polish it. Stunters are enough to polish.
Welcome back to control line, you'll really like the people you meet. It's what has kept me in the hobby.

Very nice Jim, I have a '39 Aeronca Chief awaiting restoration. I had a chance at a 140 from the same guy I bought the Chief from, but let it slip away.

I have found that I can work faster and with less frustration when I keep the work area clean and uncluttered. My tools and supplies are kept in a separate room, away from the building area. I guess that's fine if you have two rooms.
