Team Trials

2011 US Team Trails



The US Team Trials will be held on the September 9-11 with the 12th being the make up day if needed. The L-pad has been reserved starting on Thursday the 8th until Monday the 12th. I am not sure if it will be available for flying prior to those dates. If anyone is planning on being there early and wants to fly I can try to find out if that will be permitted.

The Pilots Meeting and weigh in will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday the 9th at AMA Headquarters. The room is located upstairs directly above the main desk. Please be on time, the judges meeting will be held at 6 o'clock in the same room and we need to be finished and out of their way.

Registration: The cutoff for preregistration was August 1 so if you have not signed up yet you will have to pay a late fee. The late fee for Open contestants is 25 dollars and for Juniors it is 10 dollars. For Open contestants the total including the late fee is $125 and Juniors is $60. If you plan on flying you must register (at AMA Headquarters) before the 3:30 pilots meeting.

HELP: We need two people to be the official time keepers for the contest and one person to run the pull-test. If you plan on attending, and not flying I could certainly use the help. Please contact me if you are interested in either of these positions.

I just got notification that the F2 WC will be in early September (close to Labor Day as still observed in some states).

This may have impact on some, but probably not serious F2'ers.

This is a huge problem for me! I would just be starting college around that time!!

Don't worry about it, Matt. If you make the team just tell the college that you have been chosed by the AMA to represent the US in their "olympics" that are held in Bulgaria during that time. They will probably think you are going to be a doctor or something and grant you the time off.

Leonard is absolutely correct. They'll love the fact that you're on the US team competing in the world championships. Just let 'em know ahead of time, and ask them how you can make up for the stuff you miss. You'll be fine.

That makes me feel much better about things if I make the team.

Bulgaria World Champ competition dates are, September 5-8 2012.

You can plan on having to leave the states about Wed Aug 29th to arrive mid afternoon Aug 30th at whatever airport you drive from to get to Primorsko. I have no idea how long a drive that might be or whatever airport to fly into.

This will give you Friday to get things assembled/find lost luggage, Sat and Sun to practice, Processing and official practice Mon Sept 3rd. Opening ceremonies the 4th.

The last competition day is the 8th. Banquet should be Sat night.It is possible to go home on the 9th to arrive state side in the evening on the 9th, but the party may last till morning. The 10th is a bit more realistic. If you decide to do any site seeing after, of course add that to the travel itinerary.
