Next year (2012) will mark the 60th year - yes, sixtieth - since Sterling introduced Matt Kania's Ringmaster kit. I am wondering how many will care enough to enter one at VSC-24 (March 13-17).

Hard to say Mike, but that's a great 'heads-up". Maybe some sort of separate "Ringmaster Only" event is in order during VSC 2012?

Mine is slated for a refinish this winter while I'm at Huachuca. Might include something to commemorate the aniversary. Thanks for the heads-up!

Edit: If you guys do have a ringmaster event, be sure its on Saturday so I can come play too!!!

Thanks for heads up on 60th. anv. of Ringmaster. I have one started with better wood and lazer cut ribs. Maybe put some special side attraction for Ringmasters at next VSC. I wanted to do a display for Jim Walker items/ posters/adds but got almost no reponse so I am not going to do it next year. Maybe for VSC 25 as that will be a full generation of time for VSC.

Wife Joey put her hand into the table saw blade when making forms for the concrete for our shop in August. Broke 3 fingers, they are healing up, but flying was out of the question for her.

We missed our Brotherhood of the Ring postal flights this year.

But VSC '12? What an idea! Sixty year anniversary, I think the good ol' Ringer deserves it.

In the covering stage now, juggling it with skinning the new shop.

The design may be old but the models and their lovers are still very much alive and kicking!!!

The 4th Annual Worldwide Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon ended Sunday (Oct. 2nd) and the results just became available.

1425 Ringmaster flights recorded over the weekend!! That eclipses last year's record of 826 fights!!!

A spread sheet of data will be posted as soon as it is available.

Way to go Ringmaster owners/fliers. You have made a statement that Control Line modeling is very much alive today!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up, also. I have a Jr., S1 custom, Jr. twin custom & an S1 that have languished in the shop . I hope the 60th will inspire me to get them finished. The Jr. has been almost finished for 15 years.

Enjoyed flying the one I do have finished last weekend. It is 20 years old & repaired 3 or 4 times.

Please note that I did not advocate a 'separate' event or award for Ringmasters - merely asked that many of them show up in honor of the S-1's 60th year of existence.

Fact is, I've had no say in the running of the VSC for eight years now. Lou Wolgast and Robin Sizemore call the shots.
