Landing gear configuration?

I find myself thinking more about what I'm doing AND the outcome of it, as related to my building. I owe this to the replies from SS Forums.

I don't believe I "planned ahead" as much with my RC builds, or probably, I was more confident? But I don't think so. Possibly reckless building?

Anyway, so what appears to be common place, isn't any more. A good thing.

With this said, and I'm almost sure I can answer my own question, what gear setup do I use?

I've already determined that it's going in the wing. In fact, I was just about ready to look for "J" bolts when I started to think about what I was doing. "Think." About what I was doing.

The "J" bolt installation, means it's in the wing to stay, period. I'd have to cover and paint around the wire gear, and it's "in place" forever.

Then it accured to me, that, a modeler who replied to my Thread, mentioned he had "removable gear."

Seems I won't need the "J" bolts.

Also seems that removable gear, especially if it's in the wing, is the ONLY way to go.

So, obviously, I'm beginning to think differently about my building.

I say, removable gear.

Am I right?

You are right. Tell your wife that, she probably won't believe you however.

I like wing gear, especially on a semi scale ship, profile or built-up fuse. It's a little added work to make it removable, but worth doing!
A Sterling F 51 Mustang I did had wing mounted gear, scale doors, lotsa hours in paint...just a nice fun flier. The gear was permanently installed in the wing, alongside ply ribs, tied into the spar, flat-eye bolted.
Permanent until that hard landing. Had it been removable, it would have been an easy fix...
