Dear Matt,

You and I must be cursed (at least one of us is!). The box with your ST G40R ABC and spare head came back from the USPS (actually from New Zealand Customs) because it had the wrong customs form - I had used the US long form and they want the small green form. SO, it is once again winging it's way to you.

I had scoured my venturi and BIG BOX OF CARBS for one that would fit with no luck.At one time you asked me if I still flew G40R engines and yes, I do - on a Satellite GLH 788. Mine has a custom back plate that is like the Nelson 40 FAI. These are a pain to mill out of bar stock, so it wouldn't be a cost effective solution for you, BUT you can get the same performance (I'm assuming here that you want an engine the will scare dogs and grown men) by modifying the stock back plate to have an open quadrant. This is an old speed "trick"and if you have a spare back plate, not to hard to do with a Dremel, files and a flat with emery paper.

I've attached a picture of a friend (noted speed flier Alberto Domingez) - notice that the upper right quadrant is actually the intake and you can see the rotor disk (also opened up to increase the intake timing) through the opening.

. . . - , . . . - , . . . -

Refer Beethovens fith syphony ,

V , as in R V(sometimes refered to ) as

R I for rear induction,
R V " " venturie.

G 21 / 40 Rear intake.

If I fitted a G - 40 R A, B ,C .
I could get through the pattern sufficiantly quickly
to obviate the errors , as the judges would not
have time to spot them ?

(there is a rear induction series G . 21 / 40 .)

I have an HP40F Silver Star that used to belong to Bill Simons. It is single ringed and has good compression. Black head and ST NVA, aluminum stunt venturi. Frankly I am not experienced with these engines but this is one that Bill ran himself in contest work and appears to be a good one and just what you describe. If you want it you can have it for 60.00 plus postage, say 65.00. If that doesnt strike you, make an offer. I also have a solid black one with gold head in about the same condition that he used.

Thanks,Im really just after a Case,
If you 'shave'the sides, leave the Ex. stack the stock length.
Needs helicoils for the Muffler Bolts,as the threads left were a little short. (bother !).
a 'burnt out 'engine would likly have a usable maincase.
I will probably find a Helicoilerwhos having a 'good day '
to salvage this one.

A lot of Irvine 40 and K&B 40 parts are interchangeable, since the first Irvines were loosely based on K&B's. If all you want is a runner, you may find a K&B front will fit an Irvine.

Thanks, The 'SR' series K/B & Irvine 'case' lengths match,
so would work.
The Irvines a pile of parts,N.O.S., I put a R.E. together from.
With a K/B rod in thje other bits,Im only short of a front housing,
Hence the request.

The Irvine outfit was the English K/B importer,
Looks like the 'schneurle' jobs started from the same blue-print.

The .40 Dykes Ring is an Iota thicker than the Torp. .40 ,
So 'takes up the wear' on a baffle piston .40.

Anyone Know if the A.B.C, Piston / liner fits the '8011',
and ball race 'Torpedo' .40??

The Irvine A.B.C. & ringed liners are diferent O.D.s,
Hence the " " " BLOCKS have different sized
inner Dia.s for the liner. By Golly.
