Hi,

Does anyone offer plans for the Sterling F6F Hellcat (IIRC, 42"w/s)?

Thanks,
Henry

I have a set, still in the kit box, which I'd be glad to loan to you -- but I must have them back. Deal?

Hi Mike,

That's a wonderful offer but I'm afraid that the kit/plans would get damaged or worse yet, get lost. [photo not recovered: cry.gif]

Could you possibly have the plans copied along with the die-cut sheets? I would be glad to not only pay for the copies but also for your time and gas.

Once again, your offer is much appreciated,
Henry

I have a question here, and you might need to check this, but as I recall the Sterling kits did not include full size plans. You would definitely need to have all parts copied. This could be done on a copy machine.

Didn't they at least have the wings full size on the plans? I don't remember those kits from the 50s-60s too well. Do you think the Hellcat wing would be a Ringmaster wing?

Henry:

Kit plan does in fact show full-size wing, fuselage and vertical fin. It does not show horizontal stab/elevator or individual rib plots (root rib only, on the fuse. view.) BTW, it is not a Ringmaster wing. The LE is tapered.

Unsure when I'd find time to have the plan and die-cut sheets copied here. Free time is as a premium these days.

Suggestion: If you're interested in a more scale-like (and much lighter) F6F --- one that will actually stunt too --- you might consider Don Hutchinson's plan.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the info. I just want the Sterling plans for nostalgic reasons. I'll just keep looking till I can get a copy of the plans.

Thanks again,
Henry

Having thought this over, how would you like to have the actual full kit (with plans)...at no cost?

No joke. This pristine kit was given (yes, given) to me last year by a very kind and caring flyer who knew I was looking for one.

Since becoming heavily involved with other interests, I find that the kit is rapidly joining the "probably-never-will-build" collection here.

I'm well aware that it could easily bring in excess of $100 on eBay, but since it was given to me at no charge, it seems only fair that I offer it at the same rate to someone who in all likelihood will actually build and fly it.

If you'll send me your mailing address it could possibly be enroute as soon as next Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on my work schedule.

Donation to a charity? Hmmm hows abouts the Ty Marcucci spare rudder fund?? Or like we did in San Diego in 1978, the entire crew donated its one year donation through United Fund to the San Diego Unwed Mothers Fund. No joke, and the XO never asked (volunteered) me to run the drive ever again.

Hi Mike,

That is one of the nicest offers that I have ever had! I will certainly take you up on it. Will you at least let me pay for the postage?

I'm finishing up a Banshee (90% complete), Super Duper Zilch (60%), and a Ringmaster (35%). The Hellcat will folowing ASAP.

Mike, I am in your debt. Your kindness goes far to convey the good meanings of the modeling fratnerity.

I'll send you me address and phone number via PM.

Best regards,
Henry

Henry:

Address & phone number received. See PM for details on the pending shipment. As noted, I'd prefer to see this one built & flown rather than continuing to gather dust on the shelf here.

Just for the record, so y'all will know in the event of any future transactions, Henry Moreno voluntarily reimbursed me for the postage on that kit --- and on the PLUS side, too. Add his name to the list of honorable people to deal with.
