Electric conversion motor mount by Jim Ehlen

Mount to adapt AXI electric to CL OS LA46 mounting interface arrived today from Jim Ehlen.

I am using Jim's motor mounts in both of my Shocker Cardinals and I have another ready for the Roadrunner profile.

These mounts are nicely made and work very well. The motor mount drops into an O.S. bolt pattern, but the AXI is wider in diameter up front than an O.S. engine. You will have to grind out some material from the engine bearers to make this work.

One minor nit: As mentioned, the AXI is a bigger motor than the IC engine this mount is designed to replace. Because of this there is not much meat at the front of this mount and Jim has left as much as possible. I discovered that my AXI motors swell slightly when they get hot and I had some rubbing between the motor and Jim's mount. I had to file off a little more from the front of the mount to eliminate this problem. This is a simple fix and does not detract from the utility of this mount.

I'll give it a nine - it's got a good beat and you and really dance to it.

Just out of curiousity what timer and esc combination did you use?

What kind of spinner adaptor did you use? most spinners have 1/4-20 motor shaft is Metric.and props have 1/4" hole, did you have to shim the prop?

The AXI shaft is 6mm. I use Tru Turn Spinners w/6mm shaft bushings, or I use Tru Turn 6mm prop nuts. DuBro also makes a 6mm prop nut.

I also drill my props out and use those same 6mm bushings.

Too bad he doesn't make them with a ST G51 hole pattern.....
