Thought I would post this for all to read since there has been some consternation and general hand wringing here in the Tucson area over the ownership change of Powermaster Fuels.
I've been running Powermaster 10/22 (half and half) for the past several years, as have several of the other fliers here.
After the ownership change the worry was that the formula would change or the price would increase. It finally became necessary to make a decision to mix my own in the future or try the "new" stuff.
I recently bought 4 gallons of the "new 10/22 from Hobby Barn in Tucson and did a side by side comparison, on the same day, between the new stuff and the old stuff. No, I admit this is not much of a scientific study but in four flights on my KA10 with a PA61 SE, 2 with old fuel, and two with "new fuel" (alternated), I'm happy to report that there was absolutely no difference in running characteristics or even needle settings.
Unfortunately it isn't all good news. The price from Hobby Barn was $17.45 per gallon up from $14.50 about a year ago.
Anyway...It's still great fuel in my opinion and comes in real gallon cans that don't split open ever!
Also I don't have to mix myself...hate doing that!
