16 Dots

RULES. Start at Dot #1 finish at dot #1. Draw one continious line around each dot to enclose all dots in a circle. You can not back up. You can not lift your pencil from the paper. When finished you will have 5 patterns that will look somewhat like FIVE 4 leaf clovers.

I am having trouble understanding the directions. Is each dot supposed to get its own circle? And is each circle to be a complete circle? And if that is the case, wouldn't we have four four-leaf clovers if we come up with a satisfactory solution? What am I missing?

Each dot gets its own circle.

Yes each circle will be a complete circle but it does not have to be a perfect circle. Circle can be water drop shape, eye shape, egg shape it just depends how you draw your circle. When I do the puzzle my circles turn out sorta like drops of water. Circle shape is not important. If I give you anymore help I will be giving something away. If you need more help let me know I hope you can figure this out on your own this is pretty challancing but once you see how it is done then it becomes easy, like riding a bicyle after you have already learned.

There will be 5 patterns and each pattern will look like a 4 leaf clover shape. The circles are the 4 leaf clover leaves. Again if I tell you much more it will give something away.

I had a teacher in school that use to give us puzzles about once a week to strain our brain. I wish I could remember them all. He gave us verbal instructions in class I do not remember his exact words but everyone would ask questions like your doing and he would give us a little help. Next time we returned to class we would ask more questions he would give us a few extra tips he didn't want to give all the tips away too soon. Each class we got more tips until someone solved the puzzle.

Here is a tip. It makes a different which way you start drawing, clock wise or counter clock wise at dot #1.

Tip #2. I like to start at dot #1 and move my pencil in the counter clockwise direction through the whole puzzle and return back to dot #1.

You can start at any dot you like.

I can do it and have done it in a couple of ways, but it is hard to describe it. I guess I would have to draw it out and scan it and have arrows on the lines to show direction, cause once drawn it is hard to see the flow of the line.

I tink I see what you mean by the clover. What got me was when you said to start at point 1 and end there but you were to draw a circle around it. I guess around it is all that you meant.

My first solution was without the "clover" effect. The second had that (sort of) clover effect and I guess the four groups were supposed to be the fifth clover.

Maybe I can draw and scan it for the forum

Draw the puzzle with Windows PAINT then upload that to Ebay or Craigslist or photobucket their software will reduce it and converter it to jpg then it will upload here.

You can start at any dot you like. You can move the pencil counter clockwise all the way through the puzzle or clockwise all the way through the puzzle. I learned the puzzle starting at Dot 1 so that makes it easier for me to start there and move counter clockwise.

Dots 6, 7, 10, 11 make clover 5.
