Embedding photos in text

I tried to embed a series of photos with text in between each of the photos, but it turn out to be a mess.

The new file names were generated by uploading the photos, and then I added the prefix "http://www.clstunt.com/htdocs/dcforum/User_files/" to each of the new photo files.

This allowed the photos to appear as desired, but also included the total file name. Everything look okay when previewing, but when I tried to delete the extraneous file name, I lost the photos.

What am I doing wrong?

You added the correct prefix, and when you put this into the text without quote marks

pretend this is the photo url

then it will appear as a photo with no text shown.

when you do it this way you will want to remove the picture from the attachment box or it will appear twice with the url text beneath it.

If you are still having troubles, find a post with pictures and text as you would like to put up. Then click the "reply with quote" link at the bottom, and it will bring up the message box with the previous post listed in it. (Don't click "post message") Copy what was done here and you will be fine.

Here is an example of what I was talking about. If you hit "reply with quote" you will be able to see what I did.

(It is the same picture, I know. I am just giving an example of how to post pictures in order and add text between them.)

And a final picture with caption beneath it. Just click "reply with quote" at the bottom of this post and you will be able to see in the message box how it was all arranged.

(oh, and the signature is automatic, so it will not appear in the message box, even though it does appear in the post.)

Thanks for the response. I do understand the process, and follow it exactly, and it even looks correct in PREVIEW, and also when I check it after posting.

But, sometime later, I may log in, and find that I only have a "box with a red X" in it.

Out of 25-30 'views', no one said that the picture didn't display, so I don't know if it is displaying for others or not ???

Goofy...I don't understand it.

It's the "Kairos bones" post that I've been working with.

Well, that one did have only the "place mat" and not the picture. Apparently the picture did not load (perhaps too large?) and so did not go up. I noticed that you have since fixed it, however, so have apparently compressed the picture so that it will display.

This is something that needs to be checked before sending the picture up. Just right click on your picture and check properties. It will tell you the physical size on the screen as well as disk space that it will occupy. The key is to not make them larger than necessary for the computer screen and then to compress them sufficiently to fit under the arbitrary 50K limit.

As I mentioned, the photo looked normal when I did a "preview". Even after posting the message, the photo appeared as it should. It was only later on, when I came back to the thread, the photo was missing and was replaced by the 'box with the red square'. ??? Don't understand why things changed. ???

I am familiar with the file size limitation, and always make the files less than 50kb before uploading.

Sometimes I love computers.....sometimes I hate them !!
