Guys, the old "partial thread" problem seems to have come back. We used to have that all the time on the old software. But until recently I hadn't seen it here. When I try to load the "Electric twin under construction" thread I can only get about 25% of it despite repeated "reloads"/cache clearing. It looks the same as before - thread seems to start loading just fine, but then it just stops with what looks like a normal completion - no error messages, just stops. As before I think it looks like some sort of timeout on the server side, as if it just decides to terminate the load after X amount of time.
It loads fine on my very-high speed work connection but hardly functions on my home connection (dial-up). It's something specific with SSW - I have not problem with even larger pages anywhere else.
Any ideas?

I don't know what to tell you on this, Brett. You are the only one reporting this so far. That particular thread shouldn't be overly long, but if it is a persistant problem, I will send a message to the hosting company and see what is up.

That thread seems pretty long to me - 80 something posts with a lot of pictures!
Anything that you can do would be appreciated. I have gotten in other threads too. Repeatedly reloading usually advances the thread, but there's only so many times you can do that before it no longer becomes worth it.

One thing you can do is change the way you view the forum. In the white bar above each forum as you enter in, in the bottom row, second from the left, there will be a command to either
"expand topics" or "collapse topics". I like the "expand" mode (which then leaves you with the choice of "collapse topics").
When you click on "view all" it will give you all the responses in a thread as in the other mode. But it also gives you the option of clicking on one post at a time which speeds up the loading and makes it easier to sort out where you are going. In this case it also shows the new threads in yellow at the left so you know which ones to click on.
Give that a try and see how that works for you.

After trying it for a week or so, that makes it more likely to work, but I am getting the same effect even on long single posts, and most posts with pictures. Repeated reloads sometime get the entire thread/picture to load but not all the time.
I also checked with alternate browsers (other than Safari). Same problem with Firefox 1.5x and with IE5.2. Altering the user agent in Safari doesn't change the behavior. I think this pretty well eliminates the browser as the problem and isolates it to some server setting on either end.
Checking other PHP and CGI message boards, lengthy pages, etc, also works - only SSW does this. I even managed to get a complete 49 meg system update at 28.8kbps by setting it up, then going to work for 8 hours.
So I figure it's pretty well something on the SSW end of the system.
