I can't seem to find any "FREE" sites to download software to compress pictures. Could someone help me please!

Here is one location that lists a whole group of different freeware programs for resizing and compression. Look for one that compresses as well as resizes.
Resize to 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 and then compress to the level needed to get under the 50k limit. Several of these will get you there quickly. Examples:

The key is compression, not just resizing. Resizing is still a must if it is too large for a computer screen. At best you should reduce the size to 800 x 600, but 640 x 480 is ample size for most any application. Size it appropriately, then compress. It is like the insulated mailers that you can get that have been vacuum sealed after sucking the air out of the foam cells. These can be stored as very thin mailers until you are ready to use them. You then poke a hole in each side and then expand again to full size for use.
Our pictures have a lot of "air" in the coding that goes on the disk. If you take the air out, they go on the disk as a much smaller package, but still open up to display when we click on them.
