OK, I did a little checking myself. We have had a problem ever since the server people "upgraded" the PHP software to the newest version. Unfortunately something here isn't compatible with some command in our forum software. It is one of those things in trying to find it and write around it.
But, anyway, I checked on what you did, and found how to make it work that way and how not to make it work that way. Evidently you, like me, like the "expanded view" setting on the forum. The default is "collapse topics" but there is a trigger to expand topics. You will find this as you enter each individual forum in the bottom of the three lines in the upper bar (second from left). Click on this to expand topics. Click on this again to collapse topics. I like the expanded view, which before the "upgrade" to php allowed one to click on each individual response alone, or to click on the "view all" at the top of each topic to see them all at once. Unfortunately now only the view all works.
The simple "klutz" solution to get your search function to work is to enter the forum and click on this trigger to collapse topics. Then go back to the search function and run it again. Now you will be able to view each of the topics that the search function finds.
(We gotta go find that problem and fix it.)
