There is an html reference just to the left of the discussion box when you begin a reply. But if you click on "reply with quote" to my message you will see the encoding that I used.
With normal HTML you put a (b) before and a (/b) after what you want to appear in bold type. With the forum, because of the type of language that it uses, you need to use the square brackets instead.
