I'll start working on the plans next week. I'm using AutoCAD 2005 because I took a class and got a fantastic deal on it. But I'm not an AutoCAD expert. But I can make a drawing that I can use to make things. If you have suggestions for better ways to do something, please add them to the thread.

Here are some initial things that need to be determined before I start drawing.

What is the model going to be used for?

Seems obvious, Class 1 Mouse Race (AMA event 313). However, it will also work for Class 2 Mouse Race (AMA event 314) with a different engine and probably different engine mount. If we plan for it it will be suitable for ½A Profile Proto Speed (AMA event 305).

The model will have:
- 46 sq in of wing area (event 305 minimum wing area)
- exposed control system (events 313 and 305)
- the primary view will show a typical COX integral tank engine mount (event 313) and a secondary beam style engine mount will be shown (events 314 and 305).
- the primary view will show a single wheel landing gear (events 313 and 314) and a secondary two wheel landing gear (event 305)
- there will be a clear canopy (event 305)
- there will be two leadout positions shown. the primary one for event 313 (42 feet lines) and a secondary one for event 305 and 314 (47.5 feet lines)

As we go through this I'll provide the design guidelines I've used to create the Mouse Racers we have made in the past.

More next week,

Dave

Dave, I believe I speak for all of us on this forum, when I tell you I'm looking forward to your thread on this subject.

You are going to be the template of this type of article, as I plan on introducing the nuts and bolts of working in the Cad system, before going into this style of an article. I can see where there should be great interest in your project.
I'm wondering why everything is spinning around?
