Whither Isky?

I hadn't been able to post anything over at Isky's for two days now, and tonight I'm getting a blank screen. Hope this isn't The End.

I'm not ready to count it out yet. A blank screen is bad, but at least it wasn't a screen with a singing fat lady. I'll figure it's finally a goner when I get that one.

I think it is zorked because it is out of memory. I tried another link I had to a file outside the forum that also runs off this server, and got an error message stating "insufficient systems resources to process request". Whether Isk will get around to archiving the latest incarnation, and reboot it is an open question (it reminds me of Dr. Who, everytime it reactivates, the colours and all change). I recall he is leaving the US in a couple weeks, so he may not bring it back up, although he well might. I will miss it, as it was the first ever C/L board, and a lot of fun. I met a lot of fellow C/L'ers worldwide there (if only in cyberspace) that I wouldn't have known otherwise, and I am thankful for that...

Guys, my guess is that it's over, a former website, the late Isky's BBS...much like a thoroughly dead parrot. Sometimes he just doesn't talk much, and I imagine this is one of those times. Maybe he'll recreate it on another server, somewhere in the world.

Isky was certainly a pioneer, and his board today is a viable one. When I got back into CL, there were maybe four sites where people like us could exchange ideas. Back then, looked to me like Leonard was a clear winner. That has proven to be true. First, class folks write in here, and argue with the kind of disclipine that is constructive. I have been "put down" on this board more than once, and it was always legit and polite.

Contrast this board to some others in other hobbies, where nastiness creeps in like a Raven. We don't see that here, but as I recall, there is a little of the "scumbag" on the Isky board. I haven't checked in there for a while, but personally I like this place better than all others. I do remember in another hobby where all the boards were destroyed by vandals. Leonard keeps this place clean.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, hang out with Lutherans. Lutherans diminish harm in the world and pursue good in the world. I am certainly not Lutheran, but I like "them". The point is that this site will always be a little more friendly, a little more reliable, a little less obnoxious, and a little more gentlemanly than Isky's.

I'll have to absolutely disagree with you. I have been "put down" (unjustly) here and treated like a "biker" (which I consider a HIGH compliment, considering that is what I am) far more here on this board, than ANYWHERE else, and RCO is second. I don't really give a damn about the PA gurus and what they think.
Isky's was a hoot, Leonard is a real nice guy, and he works on my motors (and does very well), but the forum just isn't the same. Sorry Len.

By the way, just for your info, I was raised in the Lutheran Church, and went to Church schools all through my elementary years. I STILL think you are WAY wrong about Isky's.

Larry, try hanging with Druids sometime...actually Druid Reformed. They worship only the hardwoods, not trees in general. Or, you might give the Frizbyterians a shot. They believe that, when you die, your soul goes up on the roof, and you can't get it down.

Jake, Larry, I think you guys are BOTH right. Isky's board and Leonard's are just different, and I wouldn't trade for either one. I like bikers and, Heaven forbid, one or two of my best friends are reputed to be Lutheran......What's your pleasure, boys? Drink up and let's be merry!
