049 engine by brodak

Guy's has anyone heard anymore about the .049 engine that John Brodak is going to put out?? The Grand Children need to learn to fly..
I have checked the web site under Brodak engines and found nothing...

Hi, Gil - I still have the prototype and it has turned out to be a fine little sport engine with no negatives. I forwarded an acceptance to the manufacturer through Brodak, so, I assume that production has begun.
We originally specified that the engine run on 10% nitro but I tried 15 and 20% without any problems. The prototype engine has a copper head shim which, I assume, makes it a bit more conservative, allowing more nitro.
I removed the shim and hopefully, I will fly it this weekend to see how the performance is affected.
You should keep in mind that the engine is set up for beam mounts and requires a separate tank.
I suggest you contact Brodak by phone regarding the delivery schedule - he may not have updated the info to the website as yet.

Does anyone know what the approximate $$price$$ of this engine will be?

Suggested retail price is $49.99. If you want one, you might consider placing your order soon. I believe they are now in production but I'm not sure of the first lot size or delivery schedule.

He'll need to sell it for less than what Norvel wants for the BigMig .061 CLX (I think it's $36 or so these days). The Bigmig comes with a tank and spring starter to boot, and is an excellent sport engine.
